ENGLISH COTTAGE GARDEN | MT SCOTT-ARLETA
Sensory plant therapy gardens have been included throughout this landscape design to support our client Sarah, in her early stages of Dementia. The garden beds were created with Therapeutic Horticulture elements to enhance the at home memory care of our client and her loving husband. Therapeutic horticulture uses plants to stimulate the five senses, offering gentle support to people living with memory loss like Sarah. Lavender, Sedum, Russian Sage, Lavender Cotton, Fountain Grasses, Rosemary, and Raspberries were planted for the couple to enjoy together and with their daughter's family. The golden decomposed granite pathway is easy on the eyes and cuts down on reflective glare from the sun. It is also comfortable for the client's to stroll around as they age in place. The retaining wall serves as a railing to hold onto while wandering the yard. Every inch of the landscape has been thoughtfully designed to be safe and offer healthy benefits.
